RETAIL GROWTH IN SHERBORNE TOWN CENTRE

Gilbie Roberts consists of partners Craig Howes and Paul Gilbie assisted by team member Melanie Lovatt. The firm is based in Yeovil and helps many local small and medium sized businesses in South Somerset and Dorset with accounts, tax and business advice.

"We help Charlotte Fairclough, who owns Pure Hair in Half Moon Street, with her financial affairs," said Craig Howes.

"It’s great to see entrepreneurs putting their faith in the town of Sherborne and our team at Gilbie Roberts are pleased to work with them." added Craig.

A street full of independent retailers,  Half Moon Street is a superb location, almost next door to the iconic Sherborne Abbey.

The salon has been in Sherborne for many years and will continue to be at the forefront of new styles and innovation in the fashion industry.

RADIO MAKES THE NEWS IN YEOVIL
Lindars Radios' showroom is located at 2 Buckland Road on the Pen Mill Trading Estate.
The business was the brainchild of Justin Lindars and the well-stocked showroom is crammed full with radios dating from the early 20th century onwards.
Lindars Radios buys and sells all manner of radio accessories including morse keys, receivers, transceivers and much much more.
I became hooked on radios as a child when my dad built my first HF receiver and it has been my passion ever since’ explained Justin.
The business started from Justin’s garage at home and then moved into small retail premises in Silver Street. "We quickly overgrew our town centre premises and I started looking for somewhere bigger with customer parking and was very fortunate to be offered a showroom on Buckland Road. We now have much more room to display our stock in a handy location" added Justin.

You can contact Justin on 01935 474265, or by email at lindarsradios@gmail.com. The website is www.Amateurradiosales.co.uk.

TRINITY HOUSE DENTAL PRACTICE

Dentist David Chapman took over the busy dental practice in Peter Street in December 2014, but had only been renting the premises.

"Initially I had no option but to rent. Once the opportunity arose to purchase the building, I was very keen to do this. I knew it would give the business greater security and enable us to continue to grow from our town centre location whilst being able to take on additional patients and staff’" explained David.
Craig Howes from Gilbie Roberts and Sam Thorne from Northseam Financial Planning were able to guide and support David through the transaction of purchasing the practice.

The town centre location is key for the practice as it makes it easy for patients to reach us. It also helps to draw people into the town which I think is very important in helping the town centre remain prosperous’ added practice manager Tara Williams.

We are a busy but very friendly practice. My role as receptionist is to make sure that a trip to the dentist is as pleasant an experience as possible’ explained Suzy Martin.
The team at Trinity House now look forward to many happy years looking after the teeth of the townsfolk of Yeovil.

David Keith Hair
DAVID KEITH HAIR DESIGN GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS
Barry Potter and the team celebrate the opening of their new Princes Street salon, which is based at number 83 towards the far end of the street.

When the business first opened in the 1950‘s, it was situated in Princess Street before moving to Union Street in 1960’s and has now gone back to its roots.

In common with all town centre retailers, one of their key objectives is to draw more people into the town centre to make sure it continues to prosper into the future.
Salon stylist Gill Hill concluded, ‘Yeovil town centre needs to become a destination for visitors and all town centre based businesses have a role to play in this’.
